A History of Golden Retrievers
The Golden Retriever was developed in nineteenth century Scotland to become a strong and swift hunting dog, retrieving wild birds on land and water, even in extreme wet and cold conditions. It excels in sports such as agility, obedience and field trials and is the ideal family dog with a friendly and fun loving personality. Known for its gentle nature, it makes an ideal family pet.
Golden Retriever’s are stunning, their head is beautiful with a kindly expression and dark brown eyes. Their coat is distinctive and can include any shade from light cream through to dark gold. Its coat has a dense, water resisting undercoat which can be flat or wavy with beautiful feathering on the chest, legs and tail.
Golden Retrievers average lifespan is 12-14 years. The average weight and height for Males is, weight 32-40 kg & height at withers: 56-61 cm and Females weight 25-32 kg & height at withers: 51-56 cm.
