After establishing Accounting & Legal Dynamics in 1979 and raising a family, Geoff decided it was time to renew his interest in dogs. Whilst on a fishing trip to the Nepean River in the mid 80’s he watched a Labrador being trained for the competitive sport known as Non-Slip Retrieving. He was so impressed by their trainability and athleticism he decided to purchase his first Labrador, Zeefree Black Joker. Black Joker went on to win the 1987 National Retrieving Trial Championship held in QLD, Geoff’s first National Title.
After that win he visited the USA with his family and attended the 1987 American Open National Field Trial Championship held in Washington State. He was so impressed by the high standard of their dogs he decided to return to learn the secrets of their success. This included their breeding strategies resulting in dogs that were trainable, athletic that not only succeeded in field trials but made great family dogs. After importing semen from some of the USA’s top retrieving dogs, he went on to win the 1998, 1999 and 2000 National Retrieving Trial Championships with Trueclass Ruff & Ready, an unprecedented achievement at that time.
In the mid 90’s, Geoff attended a seminar conducted by Karen Pryor, famous for her positive reinforcement training techniques with sea mammals. Karen went on to develop the same training techniques for dogs and developed the training system known as Clicker Training, using positive reinforcement with food rewards, which makes learning for your puppies more enjoyable and easy.
In 2000 Geoff decided it was time to move to the beautiful and Historic Town of Braidwood located in the Southern Highlands. He purchased 100 acres so that both he and his dogs could enjoy a country lifestyle. He purpose built ponds, dams and high quality facilities allow his much loved dogs to enjoy country living on a large rural property, the ideal place to breed and raise pups.
