About Trueclass

Trueclass Retrievers was established in 1992 and is a specialised breeder of Labradors and Golden Retrievers. Trueclass is a member of DOGS NSW / DOGS AUSTRALIA (ANKC) and is bound by their strict code of ethics, covering responsible dog ownership and breeder responsibilities relating to the keeping, welfare, breeding and selling of dogs. Their membership of DOGS NSW ensures that you will get a healthy, happy and well adjusted puppy.

With more than 30 years of breeding experience, Trueclass has developed a keen eye on breeding dogs that will have sound temperaments and will make wonderful companion and family dogs.

All Trueclass pups are whelped and raised in the family home. Trueclass is meticulous in the care of their pups and together with their mothers, they are treated with kindness, love and great care as every Trueclass Retriever is part of the Trueclass Family.

When Trueclass pups are ready to explore the outdoors, they are taken on daily walks with their mother and siblings through the stunning property, so they can explore outside activities and be exposed to all the sights and sounds of the outside world. This, together with individual care is important to ensure they have well developed temperaments. All Trueclass puppies enjoy playing with speciality toys to facilitate neurological enrichment and development. Trueclass has a puppy gym which provides early socialisation, sensory stimulation, interactive play and exploration. Enrichment toys help puppies with noises, textures and movements. They are also introduced to positive re-enforcement training, using food rewards.

Trueclass is located in the beautiful Historic Township of Braidwood NSW, approximately 1 hour from Canberra and 3 hours south of Sydney.

The Trueclass Family

Geoff and Simone are a father & daughter duo who both bring collective knowledge, experience, wisdom, passion, excellent customer service and love for Labradors and Golden Retrievers. Together Geoff & Simone are the proud owners of Trueclass.

After establishing Accounting & Legal Dynamics in 1979 and raising a family, Geoff decided it was time to renew his interest in dogs. Whilst on a fishing trip to the Nepean River in the mid 80’s he watched a Labrador being trained for the competitive sport known as Non-Slip Retrieving. He was so impressed by their trainability and athleticism he decided to purchase his first Labrador, Zeefree Black Joker. Black Joker went on to win the 1987 National Retrieving Trial Championship held in QLD, Geoff’s first National Title.

After that win he visited the USA with his family and attended the 1987 American Open National Field Trial Championship held in Washington State. He was so impressed by the high standard of their dogs he decided to return to learn the secrets of their success. This included their breeding strategies resulting in dogs that were trainable, athletic that not only succeeded in field trials but made great family dogs. After importing semen from some of the USA’s top retrieving dogs, he went on to win the 1998, 1999 and 2000 National Retrieving Trial Championships with Trueclass Ruff & Ready, an unprecedented achievement at that time.

In the mid 90’s, Geoff attended a seminar conducted by Karen Pryor, famous for her positive reinforcement training techniques with sea mammals. Karen went on to develop the same training techniques for dogs and developed the training system known as Clicker Training, using positive reinforcement with food rewards, which makes learning for your puppies more enjoyable and easy.

In 2000 Geoff decided it was time to move to the beautiful and Historic Town of Braidwood located in the Southern Highlands. He purchased 100 acres so that both he and his dogs could enjoy a country lifestyle. He purpose built ponds, dams and high quality facilities allow his much loved dogs to enjoy country living on a large rural property, the ideal place to breed and raise pups.

Simone enjoys finding the perfect forever home for each puppy, knowing that she is offering families the joy of owning a new puppy. Her goal is to place healthy, happy puppies with loving families so they can create lifelong memories, just like her’s.

Simone has wonderful memories of watching puppies being whelped and fond memories of dressing up Labrador puppies in her doll’s clothes and pushing puppies around the house in her doll’s pram while they slept. Simone and her husband Colin have been able to create many wonderful memories with their family and own four Golden Retrievers. Simone has developed a wealth of knowledge in breeding, raising and caring for Retrievers. Simone has a warm, friendly, professional approach, enjoys helping customers and providing exceptional customer service.
